At PALCS Since: 2020

Education: Bachelor of Science in Education in Art Education, Tyler School of Art & Architecture at Temple University

Brief Biography: Ms. Nguyen is an art educator who lives near the Philly area and is a graduate from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture with a BSED degree in Art Education. She was the recipient of The Jane D. Bonelli Art Education Award in 2020 from the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University for her passionate dedication to her practices in her studies and field. Ms. Nguyen completed her student teaching at Colonial Middle School in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania. Within the community, she served as the teaching artist for the S.E.A.C. (Social and Emotional Awareness in the Community) Arts Program at Alain Locke Elementary in Haverford, Pennsylvania. She has also worked with Spiral Q in the past as their program and teaching assistant.

Her work is a personal journey of self expression, exploration, discovery, and growth. She believes that being an art educator means you are always ever evolving and growing. Art truly became a safe space where all of her unresolved feelings, emotions, dreams, and aspirations sunk deeply onto paper after her father’s passing when she was younger. Now as an art educator, she wants her students to know that no matter what they go through, they can always find themselves and find joy in the little things through art because it can bring forth a big change. She believes emotions are always worthy of being understood and we should always encourage emotional expression so it can transform into something simply wondrous. She wants to continue to break barriers and become a positive influence in the lives of others and continue her strong involvement at PALCS in growing alongside her students and community.

In Ms. Nguyen’s free time, she loves spending quality time with her partner, family, and friends appreciating the little things in life such as catching quality sunset or admiring the city lights glow at night. She adores collaboration in the realm of music and art with her fellow artists and friends. You can always find her doodling, reading up on all things psychology, and thrifting for the next creative project!
