Brief Biography: When Ms. Toland stepped into her exploratory foreign language class in sixth grade, she fell in love with the Spanish language and the warm, vibrant culture. In high school, she was inspired by her own high school Spanish teacher to continue to Spanish 4 so that she could participate in a student trip to Costa Rica. Ms. Toland majored in Secondary Education at Lock Haven University to teach Spanish as a second language and took the opportunity to return to Costa Rica to study at Universidad Nacional in Heredia. After beginning her teaching career, Ms. Toland went on to study in Mexico and Guatemala, and took students abroad to Spain. Ms. Toland has taught Spanish for over twenty years. She had the pleasure of working at her alma mater, the Penn Delco School District, as well as the West Chester Area School District where she helped create an innovative elementary Spanish program before teaching at Bayard Rustin High School. Prior to starting at PALCS in 2019, Ms. Toland worked in the Loudoun County Public Schools, in Loudoun County Virginia, as a Spanish teacher and a School Social Worker. At PALCS, Ms. Toland hopes to share her passion for Spanish and help her students reach their goals.
