Brief Biography: Mrs. Duncan has taught ballet, creative movement, jazz, modern and tap dance classes in suburban Philadelphia since 1998. She continues her own dance education by attending weekly dance, pilates and yoga classes. She has taken master classes with Finis Jhung, ballet instructor for Broadway’s Billy Elliot, Lori Belilove, director of the Isadora Duncan Dance Company, David Howard, Thom Cobb, Frank Hatchett, Judy Rice and So You Think You Can Dance choreographers Mia Michaels and Mandy Moore.
Mrs. Duncan has been a guest dance instructor at Eastern University’s summer camp program and the Renaissance Academy Charter School. She is a certified Children’s Yoga instructor through ChildLight Yoga. She began a Children’s Yoga program at the Phoenixville Library and teaches Children’s Yoga classes at the Phoenixville YMCA.
In 2012 Mrs. Duncan volunteered to teach yoga to over 100 Kindergarten-6th grade students involved in the Phoenixville Area School District’s Summer Stepping Up Enrichment Program. Mrs. Duncan performed her original work Never Alone, a duet with her daughter in memory of her friend’s battle with breast cancer, at the 2013 PA State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, Eastern District Conference, as well as the 30th Anniversary Alumni Concert at DeSales University.
She choreographed a second work for the 2015 PA State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, Eastern District Conference. Mrs. Duncan is an active member of the National Dance Education Organization, serving as the founding chapter sponsor for the National Honor Society for Dance Arts at CPFA, a social media ambassador for NDEO’s Thank A Dance Teacher Day and a member of the 2016 Outstanding Dance Educator Private Sector Selection Committee. Mrs. Duncan served as the Vice President on the Board of Directors for Ballet 180, a non-profit contemporary ballet company and is an Alumni Dance Ambassador for the DeSales University Dance Department.
Outside of dance, Mrs. Duncan enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters, playing tennis and watching the Phillies and Flyers.
