On Sunday, April 17, 2016, third grade PALCS student Ava Briglia made her Broadway debut in “Matilda the Musical” in New York City. Ava will play the lead role of Matilda rotating performances with two other young actresses.
Ava has attended PALCS for the past three years and has performed in numerous musicals at the Media Theatre located in Delaware County. Attending PALCS has allowed not only Ava, but also her siblings Daniel and Beada to pursue their dreams of performing in shows.
The Briglia’s mother Laura has credited PALCS supportive teachers, strong curriculum, and flexibility as a contributor to making her children’s auditioning and performing possible.
Produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, “Matilda the Musical” is based on the children’s book with the same name by author Roald Dahl. The story follows an extremely intelligent five year old girl who has been born into a family that does not understand her. It has been named TIME Magazine’s #1 Show of the Year.
On behalf of everyone here at PALCS we would like to wish Ava and the entire cast of “Matilda the Musical” best of luck with the show!
