Brief Biography: Mrs. Melo became an educator to bring a different perspective to teaching mathematics. She spent eight years in mechanical engineering at Public Service Electric and Gas Company and Exxon Chemicals Americas and four years of teaching at Chester County Intermediate Unit before coming to PALCS. Her goal is to stress practical uses of math and help students “see the value of continuing to study mathematics instead of stopping with the minimum number of courses.”
Though she admits that teaching mathematics at a cyber school is challenging, Mrs. Melo says “we develop strong relationships with the students via 21st century tools.” Her favorite part about working at PALCS is the opportunity she has to collaborate with her fellow teachers. “My colleagues are great, talented, supportive, and form a close knit community,” she says. “The exchange of ideas among the teachers is exciting and stimulating.”
