Resolution & Text Size

The term "Screen Resolution" indicates how big or small things look on your computer monitor. Resolution is determined by sets of numbers, like 800 x 600 (a "low" resolution, where everything looks very large) and 1024 x 768 (a fairly standard resolution - most web pages and programs look best at this size.)

Changing your Resolution

  1. Right-click an empty area of the desktop and click Properties from the menu.
  2. On the Settings tab, adjust the screen resolution.
    • Moving the slider toward "Less" increases the size of the text on your screen
    • Moving the slide toward "More" decreases the size of the text
  3. Click Apply. Click Yes, if it is present.

Changing Text Size in Firefox

If you are having trouble reading text on a web page but other things on your computer are displayed at a comfortable size, you can very quickly change the size of text in Firefox.  To do so,

  • Go to View > Text Size > Increase (or Decrease)

You can perform the same action by pressing Ctrl and the + key (or - key) on your keyboard at the same time -or- pressing and holding Ctrl while using the scroll button on your mouse.

Note: To return to standard font size, go to View > Text Size > Normal -or- press Ctrl and the number 0.
