To Install your Printer for the first time, click here.
If your printer is installed and is not responding, printing or scanning, you need to uninstall your printer, then reinstall it.
Uninstalling your Lexmark Printer
- Unplug your printer from the computer
- Go to Add or Remove Programs
- Go to Start
- Click Control Panel
- Click Add or Remove Programs
- Once the list populates, look for anything in the list that begins with Lexmark. This will usually be Lexmark 3300, 5200 or 3500-4500 Series and Lexmark Fax Solutions
Note: If you do not see anything that says Lexmark, skip to the directions for Installing your Printer, below.
- Click Change/Remove
- Follow the prompts, helping you uninstall your printer.
- Restart your computer. Continue to leave your printer unplugged.
- Follow the directions for Installing your Printer, below.
To Install a Lexmark 3350, 5270 or 3550 Printer
Important: Install your printer from the CD/download BEFORE plugging in your printer! DO NOT plug in your printer until promped! Otherwise, you may have to repeat the installation.
- Insert the Installation CD. If you do not have a CD, you can quickly download the installation package at our Downloads page. If downloading, open the file once finished, extract the files, and the installation should begin automatically.
- Click on the Install button.
- An installation window will pop up and install the software on the computer.
Note: It is normal for this to take a few minutes.
- Plug in your printer to the computer when prompted. Your computer will automatically detect the printer and continue installing.
- Click on Print Test Page/Alignment Page and then Click Continue.
- Once printed, continue.
Note: If you encounter any problems at this stage, check for any messages on your computer monitor or on the printer's LCD screen. Follow any prompts that these screens may give you.
- Our printers are already registered with PALCS, so you do not need to register again. Uncheck Open my web browser to Lexmark's registration page. Also uncheck "ask me again later."
- You also do not want to participate in Lexmark's Connect Program. Uncheck I would like to participate in the Lexmark Connect program. Also uncheck "ask me again later."
- At this time, you may or may not be prompted to install additional software, such as Fax Solutions or "OCR" (text recognition.) Allow this to occur.
- You should Finish and be ready to use your printer and scanner!
