Sarah-Katherine (Kate) Shealy
Vocal Music Teacher

Kate Shealy obtained her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware. Throughout the course of her college career, Kate participated in many music activities and organizations, such as the University of Delaware Opera Workshop, Sigma Alpha Iota (Honors Music Fraternity for Women), Vocal Synthesis, the University of Delaware Schola Cantorum, and the University of Delaware’s premiere choral ensemble, the UD Chorale. Serving as a 4-year member and President of the UD Chorale as well as the business manager of Schola Cantorum, Kate had the opportunity to perform in several notable performance venues, such as the Delaware Grand Opera House with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. In the summer of 2006, Kate had the honor of directing the Downingtown East High School Touring Choir throughout their tour of China, which included a performance in the Forbidden City Concert Hall at the 4th Annual Eric Whitacre International Choral Festival. During the 2006-2007 school year, Kate served as the choral director at Gunning Bedford Middle School in New Castle, Delaware.
Kate is an active member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Performing Arts (PAPA), a community music organization based in Chester County, where she serves as the assistant choral director of the Masterworks Choir and High School Choir and the co-director of the Chamber Choir. This past summer, she founded the PAPA Women’s Ensemble, which completed its inaugural performance season in August of 2007. Kate currently lives in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania with her fiancé James, where she teaches voice privately.
