Mary La Bianca
Dance Teacher

Mary LaBianca completed an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and received her MFA in Choreography and Performance from Mills College in Oakland, California. She was a full scholarship recipient for her graduate work and received both academic and artistic scholarships for her undergraduate degree. She has extensive dance training in modern dance and ballet and has also enjoyed studying flamenco, and creating and designing costumes for dance.
In addition to her own work, performance credits include Asheville Contemporary Dance Theater, Asheville Civic Ballet, and Deep Root Dance Collective. She considers herself fortunate and grateful to have had the opportunity to study with Molissa Fenley, Nina Haft, Liz Lerman, David Dorfman and Jim May as well as the outstanding faculty at UNC-Asheville and Mills College.
Mary has taught creative dance, ballet and modern to ages 3 to adult in both the public school and studio environments. In addition to teaching Mary continues to work on her own choreography. She is also currently pursuing her CMA certification, continuing to take professional development workshops in dance education and researching further ways to find movement inspiration from language.
She also likes to paint, read and spend time with her husband and daughter.
