Beverly Wehr
Chair, Dance Department

Beverly Wehr received a BFA in Modern Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a Master of Education in Dance from Temple University where she was both Adjunct Faculty and the recipient of the 2005 Professional Dance Educator Award. She began her dance training at the age of 3 and continued through higher education where she was awarded academic and dance scholarships to both UArts and Temple. Beverly continues to attend workshops and takes classes to further her own training.

Beverly has taught ballet, tap, jazz, creative movement, modern, musical theatre, folk dance, and choreography to students ages 3 thru adult in private and public schools. High school musical choreography is a forte for Beverly. She was the choreographer at Garnet Valley High School for 10 years where she was also the recipient of an Artist is Residency Grant and is currently the choreographer at B. Reed Henderson High School in West Chester, PA where she recently completed her 15th musical as choreographer and co-director. Her list of musical productions as choreographer include: Oklahoma, Grease, The Music Man, 42rd Street, Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I, No, No, Nannette, Brigadoon, South Pacific, Of Thee I Sing, Into the Woods, Pajama Game and Godspell as a member of the pitt orchestra.

Performance credits for Beverly include: Group Motion Modern Dance Co., Philadanco, Consort Modern Dance Company, Dynamics Jazz Dance Company, and productions of Grease, Girl Crazy, and Cabaret. She has attended and performed at the American College Dance Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and Gus Giordano’s Jazz Dance Chicago Summer Festival. She feels grateful to have had the opportunity to study with acclaimed teachers and choreographers such as: Paul Taylor, Lar Lubovitch, Judith Jamison, Laura Dean, David Howard, LaVaughan Robinson, Gus Giordano and Twyla Tharp as well as the outstanding faculty at both UArts and Temple University.

Beverly brings a love and knowledge of many types of dance to PALCS and a commitment to consistent, sequential, and age appropriate training in dance education. She strives to enrich students’ lives by nurturing their creative and expressive selves while building strength and self confidence through technical training and performance opportunities.

When she is not dancing, Mrs. Wehr enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, playing the piano, and SCUBA diving.
