Student Leadership ½ credit
In this course, students will complete a service learning project and attend a three-day experiential leadership retreat to learn principles of personal leadership and team building. This retreat requires a $150 fee.
Students will also …
- Understand what leadership is and why it begins with the self and moves to others
- Implement principles of nutrition, exercise, emotional intelligence and mental focus
- Survey their community leaders to discover service project ideas - (This was #1 / moved to #3 to go with #4)
- Execute a service project in their local community
- Debrief after team building exercises
- Document their service learning with a video interview embedded in a PowerPoint presentation
Students not planning to complete the Leadership Certificate may attend the retreat by enrolling in a special 1/4 credit class. They will be required to complete pre-retreat preparatory assignments and a review activity. All students will be enrolled in the ½ credit course unless they have made other arrangements with the Leadership Center.
