Starting a Home Based Business ½ credit senior seminar

One of the ways to prepare to lead in the world of work is to open your mind to the possibility of using your skills to start a home-based business. In this day and age of high career turnover, it is important to be equipped for change in your life. Why not start a home-based business that you can use to supplement your income and then fall back on during times of transition?

This course will cover four chapters from the book, What Color is Your Parachute? We will also use resources from the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and the instructor’s twenty years of business experience.

Students will learn to ...

  • Research interests
  • Decide on a business using the parachute flower diagram
  • Plan his/her niche business
  • Invest in his/her initial inventory, equipment or tools
  • Get help
  • Decide on a price
  • Advertise a product or service
  • Manage time well
  • Keep records about a product
