Graduation Requirements

2011-2012

 

In order to graduate from Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School, students must successfully complete all of the following:

4 credits of English
3 consecutive credits of Mathematics, including 1 credit of Algebra I
3.5 credits of Social Studies, including 1 credit of US History or
      US Government and 0.5 credit of Economics
3 credits of Science, including 1 credit of Biology
1 credit of Arts and Humanities Electives
1 credit of Technology
1 credit of Health/Safety/Physical Education
4 credits of additional electives (may be core courses)
0.5 credit Senior Seminar or equivalent

Total minimum required credits for graduation: 21

 

In addition to the above PALCS requirements, college-bound students are encouraged
to take:

An additional credit of Mathematics
An additional credit of Science
An additional credit of Social Studies
At least two consecutive years of the same foreign language

             

In addition to the 21 credit requirement, students must demonstrate performance at the Proficient level or higher on the 11th grade Pennsylvania State System of Assessment (PSSA). Students not scoring at the Proficient level or higher must participate in the 12th grade PSSA Retest (fall of senior year), be enrolled in and complete the Reading and/or Math PSSA review course and attain passing grade(s) on a local assessment aligned to the PA Academic Standards as designed or selected by PALCS.
