Admissions and Registration Information

Thank you for your interest in the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School!

We are now accepting Applications of Intent for all grades for the 2009-2010 School Year.

To get started, complete an Application of Intent.

Enrollment is still open for the current 2008-2009 school year for students in Kindergarten through Grade 10.  Juniors and Seniors, please read the following notes.

JUNIORS: PALCS has reached its capacity for Grade 11 students for the 2008-2009 school year. Therefore, students submitting complete enrollment packets will now be placed on the Grade 11 waiting list and will be enrolled by lottery as space becomes available.

SENIORS: In order to best meet the needs of our students, we are no longer accepting enrollment packets for 12th graders for the 2008-2009 school year.

Understanding the Enrollment Process:

1. Get to know PALCS - Explore our website and make sure you check out our How it Works page to find out all about our school.
    
2. Ask questions - If your question isn't answered on our Frequently Asked Questions page, we would love to help you!
   Please send an e-mail to info@palcs.org, place "PALCS" in the subject line, and be sure to include your name, address and phone number along with your questions.
   After sending your e-mail, you will receive a call from our PALCS Information Coordinator, Mary Jane Boyd.  If you prefer, you may call Mary Jane directly at 610-701-3333 ext. 1057 or 724-274-2978 ext. 1057.

3. Complete an Application of Intent and receive an enrollment packet - Our Application of Intent indicates that you would like to receive a packet.  You can complete this information online at our Enrollment Packet page. 
   Or, following step #2, an information representative will assist you in completing the application.  Alternatively, you may contact the PALCS office nearest you:

4. Complete and return the packet - The packet includes instructions for completion.  Please be sure to follow these directions and include all additional documentation with the packet.  We cannot complete your enrollment without complete documentation. 
    
5. Attend Orientation - Upon receiving and processing your packet, we will call you to set up an orientation. Orientations typically take place at our West Chester or Pittsburgh offices.  Orientations can take place upwards of two to three weeks after receiving your packet at busy times of the year - please keep your child in school until the orientation. 
   At the orientation, students and home facilitators will meet with an interviewer who will help arrange an Individual Program of Instruction for the student.  Students take placement testing and meet with guidance for courses.  Families learn to use our school website and receive their books and computer in the mail.
    
6. Become a student! - Provided all paperwork is in order, children leave orientation as students of the PA Leadership Charter School.  Parents must remember to visit the local school to sign withdrawal papers after the orientation; we handle the rest.  Families go home, log on, meet their teachers and explore classes, start working and enjoy being a part of PALCS!
