Inconspicuously tucked inside a West Chester, Pa. office park, Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School doesn’t look much like a school from the outside.
Inside, the cyber charter buzzes with activity as teachers record new lessons, host classroom chats and respond from their cubicles to student questions.
In the digital age, teachers at PALCS, as it is known, are not constrained by four classroom walls. From three buildings in West Chester and another in Pittsburgh, more than 150 teachers reach 2,300 Pennsylvania students across the state each day, grading papers and offering math lessons over the Internet.
